A New Garment for a New Season

Nov 2, 2025    Pastor Glen Morrison Jr.

This powerful message challenges us to reimagine praise not as a response to victory, but as the weapon we wield in battle. Drawing from Isaiah 61:3, we explore the concept of exchanging our 'garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness'—understanding that praise isn't just Sunday morning worship, but a protective covering, a spiritual identity, and our primary defense against depression and anxiety. The sermon unpacks how biblical warriors like Joshua at Jericho and Gideon against the Midianites praised God before their battles, not after. This shifts everything: we're called to thank God in the midst of struggle, not just when we receive the blessing. The missing piece to our wholeness might simply be our praise. When we make gratitude our home base rather than a seasonal response, we disrupt generational cycles of complaining and discontentment. The challenge is profound: can we go a week without complaining? Can we praise God for who He is rather than what He gives? Our spiritual walk is determined by our ability to express praise in spite of circumstances, and when we finally grasp this, we discover that seeking first His kingdom causes all other things to be added unto us.
