The 4th Quarter: Where Character Building Begins

Oct 11, 2026  •  Pastor Glen Morrison Jr.

What if the hardest season of the year is actually the most important one for our growth? That is exactly the perspective shift at the heart of this powerful message. Rather than viewing the final months of the year as a season of depression, anxiety, and spiritual heaviness, we are invited to see it for what it truly is: a character-building season. Drawing from Romans 5:3-4, which describes how trials produce endurance and endurance builds strength of character, we are challenged to reframe our struggles not as punishments but as spiritual training grounds. Just like a fourth quarter in a high-stakes basketball game demands the most from every player, this season demands the most from our faith. The question is not whether the pressure will come, but whether we have built enough spiritual endurance to stand firm when it does. This message reminds us that how we finish the year is often a direct reflection of the spiritual disciplines we have practiced throughout it. If we have been praying, meditating on the Word, and surrounding ourselves with the right community, we will have what it takes to endure. If we have not, this is our wake-up call. The fourth quarter is here, and it is time to rise to meet it.
